An Associate Professor at East Los Angeles College, in the Computer Science Information Technology/Business Administration Department, I have over nineteen years experience as an educator and have always gotten great satisfaction from teaching. I have also worked in the computer industry and will readily share my extensive background and experience as a Systems Programmer and Systems Analyst with my students. In addition, I have experience in presenting workshops and training programs for private, public, and government organizations.

I hold a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Computer Science and stay abreast with computer technology by taking relevant classes, attending workshops, seminars and conferences, and by doing extensive research on my own in computer and communications technology.

I also benefit from collaborating with my colleagues and with my community in various capacities. I contribute and gain knowledge by participating as a member of the IEEE, the Internet Engineering Task Force, the Internet Society, The HTML Writers Guild, the Black Data Processing Association of Los Angeles, and other local community non-profit organizations.

Although I am a Guatemalan native, my command of the Spanish language is not sufficiently strong to be considered proficient. Nevertheless, I do well enough to understand. My French is still at the college-level of French 1 and I’m presently trying my best to learn the Amerindian-based Garifuna language. I do speak computerese very well though. How about you?

In the very sparse time I can allot for recreation, I take pleasure in spending time with my family, traveling, reading, dancing, genealogy, and bicycling. Therefore, I am generally not available during holidays!
